Thursday May 26th Morning Recap
This morning was all about the "Fundraiser for Makenzy Lariviere". The Moose's Monique Cormier is running a 10 Km marathon in Ottawa this weekend, and in an effort to raise funds for local 3 year old Makenzy Lariviere who suffers from pre-b leukemia, she trained on a treadmill in the lobby of Moose FM at 204 King Street in Sturgeon Falls and accepted donations for the Lariviere family.
The family came by to support Monique, as did JoCo (her husband who jumped on the treadmill for Pet Value who donated $100.00). Ken Landry also came by to support the event and promote his co-events for Makenzy.
Thank you to everyone who donated and came by to support the Lariviere family and Monique's efforts to help them
Over $800.00 was pledged in a two hour period.
A collection of photos and video from the event will be posted on Moosefm.com tomorrow morning.
Thank you Monique and thank you West Nipissing

Wednesday May 18th Recap
Middle of the week and I'm drinking decaf...what was I thinking :)
This morning we learned that Oprah's penultimate double-show will be recorded this coming Tuesday and it's said to be a "WHOPPER" by her producers who are staying "mum" on the guests except to say that they promise all the biggest names in Hollywood. The taping will air May 23 and 24th before her big finale on May 25th.
Gagaville is up on running as part of Facebook's Farmville. Players go on a quest and can win a stream of a new Lady Gaga song per day.
Montreal was founded on this day back in 1642 (did you know it was Canada's first capital city?).
We played "Name That Out of Tune" courtesy of Sturgeon Falls McDonald's. The three songs this morning were:
1. Seven Bridges Road – Eagles
2. Bad Case of Loving You – Robert Palmer
3. All Right Now - Free
The Sturgeon Falls Pathfinders Car Wash is on Sunday from 12-3 at the Caisse Populaire. They will also have some cookies for sale if you missed out or need more! Thank you for supporting your local Girl Guides and Pathfinders!
Enjoy your Wednesday West Nipissing!!

Friday the 13th Morning Recap (delayed)
note: blogger website issues delayed the posting of this blog...apologies
Spent the morning exploring the intricacies and history of triskaidekaphobia (fear of the number 13) and friggatriskaidekaphobia (fear of Friday the 13th).
Special guest Sophie brought in additional Friday the 13th beliefs and she also played "Name That Out Of Tune" - unsuccessfully. She brought coffee too so how could this be an unlucky day. I think if she keeps that up, we'll have to hire her. Thanks Sophie!
Fire rating is moderate for this weekend but a fire permit is still required.
McHappy Day results for Sturgeon Falls was almost $10 000.00 - amazing work West Nipissing.
Sports Hall of Fame induction dinner Saturday, congratulations to the 7 inductees and their families.
Ashton Kutcher rumoured to replace Charlie Sheen on "Two and a Half Men" and the Survivor Finale airs this Sunday night.
Conference finals in the NHL : Sat - Boston vs Tampa Bay...Sun - Vancouver vs San Jose.
Enjoy your weekend, back with you on Monday with a new Mystery Music game called "Name That Tune Out Of Three". Prizes!!

May 12th, Morning Recap
Spent a lot of time finding out about black flies and skitters this morning as 'tis the season.
- for skitters, deet seems to be the overwhelming most effective repellent
- for black flies, it doesn't seem to be as effective but home-made natural repellents have proven successful when they include lavender oil.
- Citronella also seems to provide some relief.
our "Name That Out of Tune" mystery song today was Piano Man by Billy Joel.
Oprah Winfrey Way dedicated yesterday in Chicago in front of her Harpos Studios
Shania already hard at work writing songs for a new album she plans to start recording this Summer.
Bronx Zoo can't keep their animals inside the Zoo. Following the cobra from this past March, now a peahen has escaped and is tweeting "- looking to get more followers than @BronxZooCobra and thinks she deserves it. She said "For the record: I did a better job at escaping the zoo. #iactuallyleft"
See you tomorrow for Friday the 13th fun.

May 11th morning recap
McHappy Day dominated the morning and rightfully so. For every Big Mac, Happy Meal, or Coffee sold today, a dollar goes to Ronald McDonald House. Thank you to Jennifer from McDonalds for filling us in on all the activities during McHappy Day.
The Entertainment Buzz negated the rumour that Katie Holmes was pregnant with her second child. Alicia Silverstone had her first baby boy and she and her husband named him Bear Blu??????
Candle in The Wind was our "Name That Out of Tune" - West Nipissing still playing shy when it comes to playing this game on the air with me, but I'm not giving up :).
Charlie Lang came by to talk with us about Relay for Life happening June 10th in Sturgeon Falls. Thanks for the first in many appearances Charlie...he's got the pulse on what's happening in West Nipissing so we'll be having him back for sure.
here's the link for more information on West Nipissing's Relay for Life http://convio.cancer.ca/site/TR?fr_id=8776&pg=entry

Morning Wrap up Tuesday May 10th, 2011
Our first Twitter Twuesday...still working out the kinks.
Ric Potvin mistakenly guessed "500 Miles" during our "Name That Out Of Tune" but we can forgive him because my version of "Sweet Caroline" does have a tinge of "500 Miles" :).
We learned that Oprah wants Broadway after her talk show is finished up this May 25th.
Arnold and Maria have split amicably after 25 years.
McHappy day tomorrow and our own Monique Cormier will be there.
The Municipality of West Nipissing will be flushing the water mains in the Sturgeon Falls, Cache Bay and Verner areas.
And we found out why we're only allowed 140 characters or less on Twitter.
Busy but fun time.
