Monday Aug 8th - recap

This morning we started off the on-air celebration of the 15th Annual West Nipissing Stepdance and Fiddle Festival by playing some fiddle tunes and also playing a "fiddle-ized" version of Name That Tune. Congratulations to Melanie Duchesne who correctly identified the fiddle version of "Sweet Child of Mine" and won herself an Angus Burger Extra Value meal from our friends at the Sturgeon Falls McDonalds. Honourable mention to Jeanine Laberge who guessed Eleanor Rigby by the Beatles, and upon second listen, it's easy to see how it could sound like that song.

Full schedule of events for the festival can be downloaded by clicking here:

Congratulations also going out to our latest qualifier for the Literacy Alliance of West Nipissing's monthly draw of a pair of school bags from the West Nipissing General Hospital. Lyann Malette correctly identified William Shakespeare as the writer of "Romeo and Juliet".

Nanditta Colbear of the Alliance was by to talk about the Ontario Trillium Fund grant that they received and to explain how it will be used in West Nipissing. Listen to the entire interview by pressing "play" button on the player below.

Box office numbers for the weekend looked like this:
1. Rise of the Planet of the Apes $54 million
2. The Smurfs $21 million
3. Cowboys & Aliens $15.7 million,

FYI: My peace lilies have made it another full week in my studio.

Enjoy your Monday
