Wednesday August 17th - recap

This morning we had several qualifiers who correctly answered our Literacy Alliance "Not So Impossible Trivia" question which was: Highway 11 is the longest street in the world. Its common name is?
a. Old Street
b. John Street
c. Yonge Street

Correct Answer: Yonge Street at 1,896 km.
Congratulations to :
- Yann Fleury
- Crystal Trahan
- Penny Dufresne
- Renee McDonald
who all qualified for the monthly draw to be made on August 26th.

The Literacy Alliance is holding an open house today between 10-2pm at 94 King St. suite 2.

Congratulations as well to Diane Baronette - winner of this morning's "Name That Country Classic". By correctly identifying "Lucille" by Kenny Rogers, she won a pair of weekend passes to the CMT Music Festival on Aug 26-28th.

We sent a special shout-out to the entire list of organizers of the 15th Annual Step Dance and Fiddle Festival for the great work they did in organizing and pulling off such a successful community event.

Charlie Lang was by to discuss the Festival.

This of course is the day after the anniversary of Elvis’ death in 1977 – and with that, Florists Transworld Delivery (FTD) reported that in one day the number of orders for flowers to be delivered to Graceland immediately after his death had surpassed the number for any other event in the company's history.
Not everyone completely understand what Elvis had to do with August 16th though. Check out this unfortunate clip of a presidential candidate on the campaign trail:

Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday.
